This blog displays the art work of Faye Maynard. She is a painter and photographer. She paints a variety of subject matter, including portraits, florals, and landscapes. "Sankai Yesu" means "Let us thank Jesus". She chose this name to reflect the desire to praise God for the beauty He has created and the artistic gifts He has given.
Faye is the daughter of retired medical missionaries to what is now called the Democratic Republic of Congo. She lived a total of 7 years in Congo between birth and 16 years of age. During her youth she traveled extensively, gaining a love for other cultures and the beauty of many lands. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Biology. While there, she took a couple of painting classes. She received her Masters in Science Education from Peabody College and taught for a couple of years in Memphis during her husband's medical school years. Throughout their marriage, they have traveled widely to locations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Although Faye painted only a little during the early years of motherhood, her love of art persisted. When her two sons were in school, she took a photography class and a couple of painting classes to renew her skills. Faye enjoys rendering realistic paintings of God's beauty. She especially enjoys people's faces and close details of flowers. She also paints landscapes of some of the more than 35 countries and 30 states she has had the privilege of visiting.
I am enjoying taking picutres of my sons' teams. We are in lacrosse season which is a fun game to photograph. The lighting is often beautiful and there is plenty of action. These pictures are just a sample of what I have available to parents.
